Friday Color Combo #8

It's Finally Friday! I'm so looking forward to this weekend! AND one week from today I'm going to Stampin Up Regionals in Branson MO! I CAN'T WAIT! I have all my swap cards and projects done, packed and ready to go and I will be posting them for you all to see over the next few days :) I have a list made of everything I need to take and just need to get a couple more cards for my digital camera.

So with that said here is this week's color combo and card. Enjoy!

When I was making it I thought it needed just a bit more color so I added Daffodil Delight ink, another one of my new favorite colors!

I'm thinking of adding some more embellishments but I need to get it in the mail, it's one of several designs going to From Our Hearts this is an AMAZING group that send cards to our troops to use for writing home to there families. Go check them out and if you can donate a card (or a box full) they also take card fronts (who doesn't have a box of them sitting around from swaps) and volunteers make them into full cards to be sent off. They also take cash donations to help with shipping the cards overseas and all sorts of card making supplies, a great way to make sure unwanted supplies are put to a good use!

Paper Roses

I finally found a charger for my camera! Yea! So as promised here is a new and better picture of the rose box I posted a couple of weeks ago, I did change up the color combo a bit by adding Crumb Cake, one of my FAVORITE Stampin Up colors! I alos added some pearls to two of the boxes, I'm thinking of adding one to the middle box but not sure if I really want to. The are all sprayed with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer, I wish my camera would have picked up the shimmer better they are really pretty in person.

This is the one I'm taking as my 3D swap to Stampin Up regionals on the 18th I can't wait to go!

More snow!

After over a foot of snow last week it started snowing AGAIN yesterday afternoon! We now have another 3 or 4 inches on top of what we already had! I took these pics just after the snow started yesterday and the "for rent" sign in the neighbor's yard, you

can only see to top half the rest is buried!

I've made a few small changes to my blog first the new blog address is www.gibsonsdesigns.com the old address of cindyscreativecrafts.blogspot.com will still get you here I just wanted something easier for people I give my blog address out to remember. I will be changing the name on my blog header soon also.

I've also added links to my Stampin Up shopping website and my Artfire studio, I have free shipping this month on there and will be adding new things over the next few days since we are snowed in! I have a new line of spice mixes I hope to get added within the next few days.

I hope you all get some time to get ink on your fingers today!

You are probably wondering where the new Friday color combo is and I'm so sorry to say I didn't get it done this week as we have been preparing for a HUGE winter storm headed our way. National Weather Service says blizzard could be worst winter storm in Ozarks since 1912 meteorologists say it's possible that southwest Missouri will get the most snow, ice and bitter cold from one storm in 99 years.
The last ice storm we got 4 years ago we were out of power for 12 days, I just hope that we have better luck this time!

I do have one HAPPY little girl here at home though, school is canceled for tomarrow! Yea for her, now just to find something to keep her entertained with lol

Anyway as soon as I get some time I will post some new projects and a new color combo. If the power does not go out I will have some time to play and hopefully get some new itmes posted here :)

This weeks colors are Marina Mist, Bravo Burgundy and Certainly Celery

I learned how to make these pretty roses this week and when I went to take a picture of the box the battery on my camera is dead and I can't find the charger so I took this with my cell phone, I will be going shopping and hopefully can buy a new charger for my camera so I can repost better pictures soon.

How cute is this tag! I made him in My Digital Studio with digital punches! I can't wait to try him out with real punches, to bad I didn't get him made in time to use him on this years Christmas presents but I did have a blast making him. I love using punches in My Digital Studio because I can resize them, the snowflake on his hat is a big punch resized into a tiny little embellishment!

I am so far behind on getting things done for Christmas this year so I'm just looking at it as I have a head start on next Christmas! lol
I finally got my Christmas cards done, I made three different designs but really did not like the third once I finished it so all of my cards this year were made with two desings!

Our new puppies are now 4 1/2 weeks old are growing so fast! They ate there first solid food today and it was so cute to see them try to eat the kibble! They have been on canned puppy food but I thought it would be fun to see what they did with puppy kibble today. I took some pictures with my cell phone since I've lost the charger to my digital camera, as soon as I can figure out how to get the pics form my phone to here I will upload them. We have decided to keep one of the puppies, she is the runt of the litter and we've named her Madison I will get a picture of just her up as soon as I can :)

Anyway on to Christmas card pictures!

This one is made with SU's Holy Family, I bought this set last year and finally brought it out for the first time for this card, this one is my favorite this year! The lace I bought at a yard sale it was in a big ziplock bag stuffed full with well over 30 yards of assorted lace for $0.50 I LOVE finding bargans!

This one is made with SU's set Bells & Boughs new this year as well as the new Cherry Cobbler cardstock which is quickly becoming my new favorite color! It's so hard to find a rich red like this and I was soooo happy to see this color!
Pair it with Old Olive and Very Vanilla and it works with any style.

What a crazy week it's been around here! On Tuesday my hubby calls me from the doctors office he's a welder and a piece of metal broke and hit him in the neck resulting in five stitches then yesterday our daughter had to go in for surgery to take out her tonsils, adenoids and have some work done on her ears to help fix her hearing, she made it through her surgery and is home doing great! She's going to drive me NUTS over the next two weeks she has to be home lol

And today as we were sitting around relaxing my little chihuahua Abby went into labor and delivered four beautiful healthy puppies! Mommy and babies are doing great! The first one was born in my lap lol They are so adorable and we are in love with them already!

Look what my sweet hubby brought home to me! A dozen white roses and best of all a 72" strand of gray & black pearls that I have wanted forever I already have the matching pearl earrings now I have the set WooHoo! I'm a happy mama!
The best part of the supprise, it wasn't a special occasion he just wanted to get them for me :)

I love these little candies and when I seen this tin of them at the grocery store of course they ahd to come home with me :) I've been trying to decide what to do with the tin for a couple of months now and this is what I came up with. I love this paper and stiched felt from Stampin Up I've been hording it since I bought it in the spring and finally made myself use some, I have a couple more things I made with it to show over the next few days.

So much has happened since I last posted! We found another house and got moved and I finally have my scrapbook stuff set up and got some time today to make a few projects, I will be posting them over the next few days.

This weekend we decided to go to several flea markets and antique shops and I found a desk! I have been searching for one of these at a reasonable price for several years, its an solid oak old teachers desk and I love it! I found it in a dusty corner of a flea market for $45.00 I got it home cleaned it up and have been organizing my scrapbook things in it. I can't decide if I want to refinish it or leave it as is. Now to just get a new desk chair :)

Purses, Purses, Purses!

I have been having fun with my Big Shot and SU Scallop Square die cutting the fabric and making these purses. I've been making them in two sizes and have sold a few already and hope to have enough made for a craft fair this fall. They are so simple to make and are reversible one side is the ragged look that is so popular now and the other looks quilted. After I finish making several I throw them in the washer and after they are dry trim up the ragged side a bit and they are so cute!

This is the first one I made, after I finished it I thought the fabric I picked out would have been so cute as a diaper bag, I've been thinking about going back and getting more and trying to make one. This is what the quilted side looks like.

Turn it for the ragged side.I love this fabric, I found it at the local quilt shop, it was rather expensive but I couldn't resist!

This is another style of bag I've made a couple of, the go together quickly and are sooo easy. I've had this lighthouse fabric for a couple of years and decided to make me a purse out of it and I love the way it turned out. On this one I put a button to fasten it but found some magnetic purse snaps at JoAnns this weekend so will be using them from now on, I love the look of the button but it's a pain to fasten when I'm in a hurry.

Having fun with my Cricut!

I've been having lots of fun with my Cricut lately, I got the pink expression last October and LOVE it! I went to the sign shop and bought a bunch of colors of vinyl, 12 x 24 sheets for $1 each so a bunch came home with me and I couldn't resist cutting some cute flowers out of the pretty pink I bought. Now just to figure out what design I want to cut to put on my laptop, I wonder if I cut girlie designs and colors if hubby would leave it alone lol

New Puppies!

We have new Chihuahua puppies at our house! They were born late Saturday night and are just over 48 hours old now. There mama Trixie is the mama to my dog Heidi and has been visiting us for three weeks and will be here three more weeks until her family comes back from a out of state job. We have been enjoying having her and now her newborn puppies, she had three girls and the biggest one is about four inches long they are so tiny and cute! Two of them are black & brown and look just like mama and one is black & white just like daddy.

Mini Pizza Box

What a crazy week it's been! I've been sick all week but I'm feeling much better today and got some play time in and decided to create a simple tutorial. I love these little pizza boxes for small gift packaging, I'm still deciding what I'm going to put in this one.

Supplies used here (all from Stampin Up) -
107086 Rose Red card stock 6" x 11"
117161 Sweet Pea paper pack
109114 Pretties Kit
117289 Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin Ribbon
103683 Mini Glue Dots
104294 Sticky Strip
104332 SNAIL Adhesive
102300 Bone Folder
103579 Paper Snips

Cut your card stock to 6" x 11"

Score 1" on each of the four sides of your cardstock

Along the 11" side score at 5" and 6"

With your paper snips cut at each score mark to the 1" score along both 11" sides of card stock as shown in the picture
Place a dot of adhesive on outside of each 1" tab you just cut

Fold and assemble your box adhering tabs as you go

Congratulations! You just finished your pizza box! Now for the fun part, Decorating!

I cut a peice from the Sweet Pea paper pack and adhered it on top of my box along with two flowers and a half back pearl from the Pretties Kit.

I thought it still needed something so I made a 1 1/2" wide belly band topped with 5/8" Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and a cute bow, it just slides off to get to the goodies that will be inside and can be slid back on, it keeps the box closed and looks cute also.

So what can you do with a mini pizza box? I would love to see everyones creations.

I'm off to finish work on another tutorial, I hope to have it done and posted this weekend or early next week!

My scrap area is finally clean and somewhat organized! YEA! I still have a few things to find homes for but I'm happy with my progress! I've made myself clean it up and put away all my new goodies and organize things that were just tossed into drawers, sort my card stock and printed papers, put all my scraps in one place, and link the rest of my Cricut cartridges to my Gypsy and I had to do it all before I could play. So no new projects to post but I do have a couple of things I made with my new matchbox sizzix die last week, so I'm not going to completely leave you without something to see :)

Isn't this little bunny just to cute? I've been having fun doing different cards with him and as soon as I'm not feeling lazy I will take some pictures and post them.

I'm so ready for spring and have pulled out my Easter stamp sets and have been playing, I don;t know if it's helped ore just made me long for spring even more lol

I love Build A Bear Workshop and as soon as I seen these Sizzix dies just before Christmas I had to have them and I finally got them last week and have been having so much fun with them! Megan seen them and is asking for a Build A Bear birthday party for her 9th birthday this July, I just hope she won't change her mind and go with something else, it's going to be fun making everything for her!
I usually stay away from paper peiceing, the first time I tried it I threw the whole disaster away and swore I would never do it peice paper again! But these are so easy to put together!

I'm loving Stampin Up's new My Digital Studio It's so easy and fun to use. I never thought I would ever get into digital scrapbooking and paper crafting until I bought this software.

Here's my first digital layout with the software, Megan went on her first fishing trip last summer with her daddy and caught her first fish that day and she chose this picture of her for me to do my first layout with. I love the colors in the new Sweet Pea digital download from SU.

Does anyone know where I can find a nice template that is not to much trouble to install?

Mini Album

I can't believe how long it's been since I had a chance to post anything. I've not done much crafting over the last couple of months, we've moved and had so much going on that today was the first chance I've had to do anything, I'm so happy to be able to play with all my goodies again along with a bunch of new goodies I bought over the weekend at a brand new scrapbook store in town. Now to go play with my new Cricut cartridges, Jubilee and Home Decor that came yesterday along with my Cricut Jukebox I've been wanting for a long time and finally got!
It took me a while to decide between a new Cricut Expression and a Cricut Create but I finally did and bought the Create, I know that the bigger cutting surface would have been nice with the Expression but I really can't ever see myself needing anything bigger than what the Create will do and it has all the extra functions of the expression and it's easier for me to take with me to crops and such. The big plus was the $100 I saved buying the Create instead of the Expression I was able to buy my new cartridges and Jukebox!

Here's a super quick and easy to make project for you. It took me all of 30 minutes from start to finish, it took longer to decide what paper and rub-ons to use than making the album took lol.
I used plastic baseball card holders (the hard plastic ones from Walmart) punched a hole in the corner with my crop-a-dile put and put them all on a book ring. I used rub-ons on the outside of the holders and made ribbon "tabs" on each page.

What a week!

It's been a crazy week around here, Megan spent all week home from school last week sick and JD has been sick all weekend, I will be so glad when spring gets here and flu bugs are all gone!

We are at the 4 year mark since Megan's last eye surgery! And it looks like we may not have to go through that again! She has went 6 months without developing any new cysts on either eye, this is the longest she has ever gone since the first one developed and was removed when she was two! WooHoo! It seems hard to believe that the first year of my little preemie's life we were in and out of the hospital so much, and now here we are 7 1/2 years and three surgeries later with a healthy little girl. I scares me so much to think of when the the doctors had told us so many times that she may not live during my pregnancy. We are so blessed everyday I thank God for answering our prayers and giving us our beautiful little girl, she truly is a miracle.

Anyway I thought I would leave you with a cute bird card, I usually don't post my twisted cards but this one I couldn't resist because it seems like it fits my whole week! The stamp set is a new one Close To My Heart just came out with and as soon as I seen it I had to have it to make this card! Just turn the tail feathers a different direction and you change the whole meaning of the stamp hehehe.

This card was so fun to make! The little sailboat was really easy all you have to do is cut a half circle for the boat and two traingles for the sails add a ribbon flag and your done!

This is the same paper I used for the baby card, Basic Gray's Lily Kate, one of my all time favorites I love working with these beautiful papers. The butterfly I cut with my Revolution the die is simply called Butterfly, the yellow felt is from Hobby Lobby is not easy to cut with a die cutting system but worth the extra effort. The gems are all the same irridescent color also from Hobby Lobby. The light green ribbon I fould at Michael's for $0.25 for the spool, I love finding bargans!

Criss Cross Basket Tutorial

Here's the turotial I promised for the criss cross basket. Enjoy! I would love to see everyone's take on this feel free to post a link to your creations in the comments :)

Supplies:
ScorPal or other score tool
Paper cutter (I like to use a hobby knife, ruller and cutting mat)
one 6 x6 peice cardstock
one 1 x 8 1/2 peice cardstock
Adhesive
ribbon, stamps & other emblishments

The finished size of this basket is 2 x 2 but you can make it bigger just use a square of cardstock that can be scored in 3 equal parts (9x9 makes a 3 x 3 basket or 12x12 makes a 4 x 4 basket)

First you will need to score your cardstock at 2 and 4 inches turn and score again at 2 and 4 inches.

Next cut all 4 corners at an angle using your score marks as a guide cut for score mark to score mark.

trim ends 2 inches on each side again using your score marks as a guide. Now would be the time to do any stamping on the basket itself if desired.

On the ends you just cut you need to cut 1 inch off each flap so your cardstock looks like the picture below.

Apply adhesive on your short sides and fold over your angled peices and attach.

here's what your basket should look like at point. It's all done except for the handle and decorations!

I added a peice of ribbon to my handle, now is the time you need to add any ribbon, ric-rac or lace to your handle.

Apply adhesive to each end of your handle and attach it inside your basket.

Emblish & fill with goodies and your done!

Cris Cross Basket

Is this not the most darling little basket? I'm loving these and they are so easy and fun to make! I will be posting a tutorial on here for these soon. I'm going to be making them for my daughter's class for Valentine's Day and a baby shower I've been asked to do some favors for. They would also be cute for weddings, bridal showers, dinner parties, holiday parties, just about any occasion you need party favors for!

Frames

Now that Christmas is over I can show these off :) They were fun to make and everyone loved them.
The frames are from WalMart, plain wood that I paid $1 each for, I painted them then lightly brushed pearl paint over them to finish.

My Aunt Glenda loves butterflys so this stamp set by TAC (Flutter By) was perfect for her, you really can't see it very well in this picture but the butterfly is pop doted onto the background and colored in with Prismacolor pencils and outlined with Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust clear glitter pen. The sentiment is from TAC's True Wealth it was a lemited edition and this was the first time I had used it, I had just stuck it on my shelf without really looking at it when it arrived, I will be using it more from now on :) The embossing is done with Cuttlebug's new embossing borders Frills, a birthday present from hubby just in time for Christmas :) after I embossed it I lightly sanded the top of the embossing so the white shows through and the embossing stands out more. The glitter is Martha Stewart's Copper her glitter is a must have I received this bottle in a RAK and will deffinatly be on the lookout for a good deal on more! The purple cardstock is Hobby Lobby's The Paper Studio textured pack with a white core perfect for sanding!

This frame is Megan's she has been collecting nutcrackers for a few years now and this Christmas is proud to have added her 32nd nutcracker to her collection! When the PO came out with these stamps for Christmas this year I knew I had to do something with them for her. Her walls in her room are painted light blue and the dark blue & pearl of the frame really looks nice hanging up. All the supplies for this one are from Hobby Lobby, the cardstock is The Paper Studio textured pack, I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder with the swirls & birds I can't remember exactly what the name of it is right off hand. After embossing I sanded off the top of the embossing so the white really shows up great, the burgandy cardstock I just used a white gel pen to add a small dotted border around each stamp. Simple, easy and quick to do and Megan loved it!

Here's a cute album I made with libary book pockets. The stamp set is Kid Praises from The Angel Company the Dream stamp is from TAC's Small Sentiments limited edition set. Ribbon, eyelets and cardstock is from Hobby Lobby. This is a great little album for gifts, I had these pictures of Megan & my dad taken while visiting my sister in Oklahoma just before Megan turned two and they are perfect for a project like this. This album is so simple and quick to make, just stamp your library pockets add a cover of cardstock (double the length of your library pocktes plus one inch in length, same hight plus 1/2 inch, score in the middle) I punched everything with my Bind-it-All and wove ribbon through the holes, for the tags I just made them to fit the pockets, stamped them and attached an bit of ribbon with an eyelet. Be sure to take the tags out of the pockets before you punch the holes, I really hated having to remake all those tags lol

Stamp To Spend 2009

In order to try to control what I spend this year I'm trying something new. I'm going to make myself use my supplies. Here's how stamp to spend works, for every 15 cards I make I give myself $20, every 5 layouts I get $20.00 and another $20 for every 10 altered items I make. figure this way I will be using the spplies I buy as well as have a great jump start on gifts for next Christmas! Maybe even get some my photo boxes cleared out and the empty albums on my shelf filled! I will be updating my list over on the left side of my blog each Saturday.

Finally a few minutes to myself :) I've been busy getting everything ready for Christmas and making a few last minute gifts. I think I'm finally done but as usual I will probably be up late on Christmas Eve making a few last minute gifts that just have to be done :)
Anyway here are the gifts I've made for my daughter's teacher, principal and school secratary.
The sets each have 4 cards, a mini journal, post-it note holder, tic-tac holder, jumbo paperclip bookmark and a matching pen.

Corsage pins and card making?

I can't beleive it's been two months sinsce I've had a chance to post to my blog. I've not had a chance to get much done with school and everything else.

Anyway the other day I was in Hobby Lobby trying to find a certian color of ribbon and on a whim bought some corsage pins just to see what I could come up with. And here are the results! I love this shimmer paper I found at Target!

A few new cards

This first card is a new one for me I've never done one this size before it's 3 3/4 x 8 3/4 it fits perfectly in a business size envelope. I love the way it turned out.

I love this one I used my 1 1/4 inch circle punch to make the flower.

I love House Mouse stamps and this is one of my favorites!

This one was just fun to make! I don't have any of those expensive alcohol markers so I used sharpies and bic mark it markers to color in the flower they are alcohol based inks and I figured might as well try it and I really like the way it turned out.

Baby Album Gift Set

I have to say this is one of my favorite things I've ever done! I had so much fun making this cute gift for my cousin's baby shower.
Everything is done in Pink & Brown with a lady bug theme. Zutter has clipboard wood covers to work with the Bind it All I found them at Hobby Lobby I made the covers out of them for this little book. The lady bugs, flowers and butterflies are done with Quick Kutz dies, paper peiced and I use lots of Stickles, pink flower rinestones, American Crafts Baby Girl ribbon, Chocolate brads, Cricuit with George and Basic Shapes cartridge, white gel pen, Blush and Chocolate Close To My Heart inks, and all the cardstock is textured, and I used my Bind it All to bind the book together.

I promised blog candy for Megan's 7th birthday on July 27th and things have been so nuts areound here the last month I've not had a chance to post anything. Here is my project, I found these darling little tins at the Doller Tree in the candy isle, they are the perfect size for a gift card and candy. I just found some more today in the doller spot at Target that are just a bit larger than these, Megan was running around on a sugar high from all the candy in the tins :)

Event calander

I'm always so unorganized and forgetting birthdays, anniversarys, ect. so I made myself a perpetual calandar, I used my bind-it-all cardstock, chipboard and emblishments. It measures 8 x 4 I just covered chipboard with Bella Flor paper from The Angel Company, puched it with my bind-it-all emblished it and put it all together. I used Windows Word program to make up my pages and here it is! Simple, functional and CUTE! I also found some pink binding wire!

The one in the last picture is 4x4 I thought it would make a cute gift, now just to find the right person to give it to :)

I love this little album and it was so easy to do! One of the best things aobut this album is you can make it any size you want to! I can't wait to try making a bigger one. This would be so cute for a new baby, wedding, birthday, grandparent's Christams & birthday gifts.

Flower Collage Trio

Just thought I would share a couple of cards I made with one of my favorite stamps sets. Flower Collage Trio from The Angel Company there are two more stamps to this set but this one is my favorite and I use it all the time :)

This one I used my Cuttlebug d'vine swirl embossing folder after I had stamped the piece with a background stamp, I used Beauty of a Woman retired from The Angel Company the on the tulip I used prismacolor pencils topped with crystal stickels.
This one the cardstock is textured, you can't see it in the photograph but it really adds to the card, I'm loving textured cardstock right now! For the holes I used my paper piercer and a piece of plastic canvas as a guide. the tulip is colored with prismacolor pencils and topped with crystal stickles. For the ribbon I wanted to do something different, I found these small pieces in my ribbon scraps and attached them with a gold brad. I'm not sure I like the look but it is different.

Mini Bag Book

These bag books are really fun to make and are great gifts. Here is just one way to make them, here I've used just one lunch sack, the large brown bags from the grocery store also work great for a larger size.

To start you will need your bag, sharp scissors and a bone folder

Start by cutting off the bottom of your bag

Then you will cut up the seam of the bag, you can cut anywhere on your bag but cutting on the seam makes it easier to finish later on.

After you have cut take and fold your bag in half lengthwise.

Fold in half again in the oppsite direction

Fold this in half again.

Open your bag back up, you will use the fold lines as cutting lines and to fold your book later.

Fold your book in half.

Cut starting at your fold and go half way up your paper.

Unfold your paper.
Fold in half with cut at top.

Smoosh your ends together to form your book in a + shape.

Pull together.
And fold.
All done! Time to bind, decorate and emblish!
There are several ways to bind thse books, you can use metal book rings, tie individual peices of ribbon in each hole or here I used my bind-it-all to punch the holes and wove ribbon through the holes and tied at the top.
Another way to make these books is take several lunch size bags and stack them together, fold in half and punch holes, bind and decorate.

On mine I've used the Tutti Fruti papers from The Angel Company. LOVE the colors and prints!

Kid Praises from The Angel Company has become one of my favorite stamp sets :) I made the cards above for my daughter's kindergarten teacher as an end of year gift, she loved them!

This is the cover of my daughter's kindergarten memory book, it contains several pages of her artwork, pictures and certificates she earned through the year. The covers are chipboard and I used my Bind-It-All for the binding, for the names I used my Cricut with George font and went over the letters with Crystal Stickles. This book belongs to one of the boys in her class, I love the dinasour in this set!
Here are all 15 books, one for each child in her class! I managed to get all of these done in a month.

Coffee Break Tin

These are the cutest little tins from The Angel Company, I got two of them in and could not wait to do something with them. All you need is your tin, paper, terrifically tacky tape (also known as red line tape and sticky strip)

First cut you paper to size I used Bella Flor from The Angel Company I love the colors of these papers :)
After you've cut your paper apply your red tape, remove the red liner and apply to your tin

Don't forget to cut a notch for the latch on your tin, use scrap paper to get it right before you cut your good paper.

After your paper is all on add your ribbons and emblishments!

As you can see in this picture I cut the notches for the handle wrong and my paper is uneven on the top, I really hate wasting paper so instead of ripping it all off and redoing it I put gold stickles all around the outside edge hiding the uneven paper.

One thing I like to do is take stickles and make swirls, dots & doodles on the paper, you really can't see it in the picture but it gives a nice sparkle.

A little bit more emblishing and it will be ready to be given as a gift!

Wow! I can't believe how long it's been since I had time to post!
I'm sooo glad it's finally spring! Although I can really do without the storms, so far this week we have only had one sort of nice day without rain cold but dry, one day of severe storms three tornados out of them lucky no one was hurt to bad, there was a lot of property damage out of them.

Megan got her report card the other day and all her grades are up! She is doing fantastic in school and she is also doing much better at home. The decision to send her to a Catholic school was the best we have ever made. I hope to send her back next school year but we are going to have to wait and see on that one, we hope to be moving out of the city we live in into a smaller town this summer. I dread the though of all that packing, moving, unpacking and not being able to find anything for weeks! I still have not found a box of scrapbook stuff from the last move, it has all been replaced by now lol

Anyway I hope everyone is having a great week, I'm off to get working on a cute project to show off :)

Criss Cross Cards

Criss Cross Cards
These are a fun and easy to make card, they do take some time and more materials than a regular card but are so worth the extra effort :)

Supply List
Adhesive (I use my ATG tape gun http://www.findtape.com/ LOVE the thing!)
1 sheet 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for card base
1 peice 4 x 5 designer paper (2 if you do 2 different designs like I did)
1 x 12 peice cordinating cardstock for band
1 x 12 peice ribbon (optional)
Sticky Strip (Sometimes called Red Line Tape)
Ebmlishments

Inside Card
Adhesive
3 3/4 x 5 peice cardstock
3 1/2 x 4 3/4 peice cardstock
Ink
Emblishments

First take your 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and cut in half length wise so you have two peices of 4 1/4 x 11 (I usually score across first but didn't this time so I will give directions on how I did this one)

Score each peice at 5 1/2 inches

Line up the score line with the bottom oppsite corner and cut, do this with both peices making sure you do the oppsite side on each peice

Line up corner to oppsite corner of your background paper you will cut across the 5" side short side to the bottom of your trimmer if you use two designs be sure to cut the second one oppsite of the first.
Glue the designer papers to your pecies of cardstock

Glue the two peices together one on top of the other ligning up the score line of the bottom peice with the end of your top peice
Put a peice of your sticky tape on the very bottom center of your card
Fold over first half and adhere, place a second peice of sticky strip down for the second fold to adhere to
Fold over
Attach your 1 x 12 band, you can score this at each end I think you would score at 3 1/4 from each end you would want to check this before you do it, I just eyeball it and fold over overlapping in the back

If you use ribbon attach it now, I have the ends meet in the front where I will cover them up with an image
Emblish!
Your pocket is finished!
For the inside card take your two peices of cardstock and round only the top two corners
(Optional I think it gives it a more finished look)

I stamp my cardstock before adhering them together so if I mess up I can just flip it over re-stamp and adhere them together and the messed up side is to the back and no one will see my mistake and I've not wasted paper :)
Emblish your inside card!
I sponged mine with Close To My Heart's Outdoor Denim ink and added a Close To My Heart Edge Anchor (LOVE thes little emblishments!)

Congratulations your card is finished and ready to give!

Here are my Christmas cards for this year the tab is made from Stampin Up's tab punch with a Prima flower dyed with water & ink (I've put the instructions below for this) attached with a gold brad

This is a sample for my cousin's wedding invitations, the pearlized paper is from Hobby Lobby and I ran it through my Cuttlebug with the swirl folder, the flower is a white flower I pulled off a buch of silk flowers also from Hobby Lobby and dyed with Stampin Up's Taken With Teal inker with a half back pearl in the center surrounded with micro beads. The sparkle on the tab is a stamped image gone over with a Sakura clear glitter Stardust pen and a clear stone in the center

Dye Silk & paper flowers
(1 tsp water and 6 drops of ink, dip your flower and dry on papertowels, you can also dye paper flowers this way just don't leave them in the water dip and pull them out immediatly)

I just received a package in the mail from EK Success the thing is I didn't order anything! Inside the package was a letter welcoming me to the ES Success Consumer Board! WOO HOO I've wanted this for a long time and am so excited to be chosen! I will be on the board for 1 year and during that year I will get to try out new products and such before they get to the store!

My first product I got to try out is a new adhesive Sticko this little darling ROCKS! I love the fact that it has a hole in the bottom that I can use to hook it to my tool bag so I don't have to go digging for it :)

It will arrive in stored this December and you better believe I will be stalking Hobby Lobby for refills :)

There will be a full size one with 32ft of adhesive and you can also buy them in a set of one mini and one full size they come in Permanent and Repositionable adhesive!

So after getting my package of course I had to make a quick project with it..........

This is such an easy project also, all you need is a clear plastic checkbook cover and some papers, I usually get my ckeckbook covers from http://www.clearbags.com/ but you can also get them in some stores, the cheep calanders work also.

Cut you base paper to size for this one I cut my paper 6 1/4 x 6 3/4
Round your corners and decorate as you wish!
I didn't use any bulky emblishments on this one I'm not to fond of they way the get squished in the cover.

The stamps and papers on mine are from Clost To My Heart called Promise of Spring they were a promotion last winter and are still some of my favorites! The saying is "The eyes see what the heart loves"

Christmas Presents!

With Christmas comming up we all need quick & easy Christmas presents that don't break the bank, so I hope you all enjoy this little tutorial on Stationary holders, I did them last year for gifts and they were a huge hit :)

It only takes one sheet of cardstock, two piece of printer paper, and a few envelopes. What could be easier? All you do is take a sheet of cardstock, score it at 1-1/2" down the long side and fold it in half. Round all four corners and use a little sticky strip to tack down the two pockets and I cut a little V at the center fold so it folds easier. The cut the printer paper in quarters to make the stationery and just decorate the front and the pockets, stamp the envelopes and place them in one pocket the decorated paper in the other attach ribbon to the folder and your done!

Hello and welcome to my brand new blog :)
This is the first time I've had a blog and still trying to figure out what I'm doing lol
Hopefully I will have some pictures to post as soon as I get them taken and a few new digi layouts done. Things are prety quiet here today so hopefully I will be able to get a good bit done today.
